All sidewalks along W Ferdinand St have been repaired, with the exception of one which was filled, but will be handled. Final milling and paving of the street is not expected to be completed until the first week of December. In the meantime, if there are any hazardous conditions that arise with the temporary patching, please notify MAWSA at info@mawsa.org.

With work remaining in the Ferdinand Street area, it is possible to experience intermittent water outages Tuesday and Wednesday of this week (9/23 and 9/24). This is NOT expected, but as we saw earlier in the project we had some unexpected outages due to inoperable valves or unexpected connections beneath the street. To minimize any inconvenience during this time, it would be advisable to have an extra few gallons on hand in pinch in the event service goes down. Plan is to work from Grant back east along Ferdinand, completing near Pitt or Charlotte tomorrow, Wednesday continuing north towards Main Street. Residents along Ferdinand who received the new service connections likely would not experience the issue, rather those customers on the outer edges may notice this.

Restoration of sidewalk damage and full mill and paving repairs for the street will commence upon the completion of the project.

The latest on the MAWSA Water Main Replacement and Extension Project looking towards the week of 9/22

  • New water main replacement has been completed.   Temporary patching of area at Main called out by PennDOT completed.
  • Approximately half of new services have been run (basically between Main and Charlotte), remaining will be completed by Wednesday of next week, with final tie-ins wrapping up the week of 9/29.
  • There is no anticipated service disruption other than brief outage at each residence while the new connection is being made.
  • Restoration of sidewalk and full mill and paving repairs will commence upon the completion of the project.

9/15/25

Service Line connections will continue Monday and likely through Wednesday or Thursday.  Parking restrictions still in effect, but the crews are making progress moving west.

9/5/25

Work will resume Wednesday 9/10 to make service line connections starting at Main Street and working westward. This is expected to take about 4-5 days to get the whole way to Grant Street. We apologize for the inconvenience, but this is an important effort to replace aging infrastructure.

8/29/25

First section of water main replacement wrapped up this week (Main Street to Charlotte Street).  Starting Tuesday, work will continue from Charlotte Street to Grant Street.  Service connections begin the week of September 9th.
