Work for Shimp Street was delayed from October 22 to October 23 due to unforeseen difficulties. Work on 10/23 will take place between 10am and 3pm. During this time there may be service and fire service interruption for the 300 and 400 block of South Main Street when the physical line tie in is made.

On Monday, October 27, the final tie ins and abandonment of the old line will take place between 10AM and 3PM. The 400 block of  South Main may see service and fire service interruption.

These should be the last planned service interruptions for this project.

10/2/25
Connections to the new water main will take place this morning. Please anticipate a service interruption of about 15 minutes. Final paving, sidewalk and driveway repairs will be completed at the end of entire project.
Please be mindful of traffic safety and crews for your and our safety.
We appreciate everyone’s patience as we wrap up.

In addition to our previously scheduled water service work, customers in your area can expect a temporary disruption in water service on Wednesday, September 24, for a valve installation.

The outage is expected to last from approximately 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This essential work will help us ensure the long-term reliability of our infrastructure.

We recommend having a small amount of water on hand for your household needs during this period. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience as we complete this critical project.

The latest on the MAWSA Water Main Replacement and Extension Project looking towards the week of 9/22

  • Water main replacement work continues for the first part of the week, continuing north to right around Eby Street.
  • Service line connections to the new main could start as early as Thursday 9/25, but most likely the following week.  We will notify residents individually if this will actually happen next week.
  • These would continue through the week of 9/28 with final tie-ins to follow.
  • Final paving, sidewalk and driveway repairs will be completed at the end of entire project

Final paving/restoration schedule is not confirmed yet, but with work wrapping up the beginning of October this should follow quickly. Ideally, while the Main Street portion is finishing up.  These projects were made possible by an ARPA H2O PA Grant awarded in 2024.

9/15/25

New water main installations to continue this week. Crews are working north towards the bridge at the creek.  Parking restrictions still in effect.

9/9/25
1:40PM

Service interruption is expected tomorrow morning, 9/10, from 9AM to 11:30AM for South Main Street due to water main work. Portions of Elwyn Terrace may be affected.

9/5/25

Water main replacement will commence Monday 9/8 starting from the south and working north. Tuesday 9/9 there will likely be a short service outage to accommodate a valve installation. Shooting for AM to avoid any disruption of local eateries. Update to come. Completion is not expected to be until the week of 9/15. Service Line connections are expected to start approximately 9/17.

8/29/25

Water Main replacement starting near Eby Street and extending south to the end of the current service area (400 block of South Main St). Crews will be in the area setting up late next week with construction commencing September 9th. This will likely require a week to run the lines, with service connections in the 3rd week of September.

The final paving and restoration will follow after all main and service line work is complete.
