Fire hydrant repair on S Linden St

Feb 17, 2026

2/17/2026

Wednesday, February 18, MAWSA crews will return to the area along S Linden Street (between E High and E Ferdinand Streets). Work will begin at 8:30 AM, and the street will be closed to through traffic until the afternoon.

Last week’s project successfully installed the valves needed to control water flow in this service area. This now allows our team to repair a leaking fire hydrant located on the east side of S Linden.

Water Service Impact:

  • Affected Areas: Residents along S Linden (High to Ferdinand) and E Logan Avenue.
  • Timing: Service interruptions will occur between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
  • Duration: While the window is 4 hours, your actual service interruption should only last about 60 minutes.
  • Water Quality: Upon resumption of service, you may notice slight discoloration. This is normal and will disappear quickly if you let your cold water tap run for about 30 seconds.

Resident Access: Crews will work to assist those living along S Linden in entering or leaving the area if you must travel during work hours.

Monitoring Progress: This repair is expected to address known issues on this block. We will continue to monitor acoustic listening devices in the area to determine if any further action is required.

The valve installed during Thursday’s project now allows our team to control water flow effectively so we can isolate and replace a leaking valve.
