Hydrant Flushing April 28

MAWSA is flushing hydrants from April 28 to May 7. Beginning at approximately 4AM on April 28 MAWSA will be flushing North Main Street and East High Street, before flushing hydrants in the southeast quadrant of the Borough. The southeast quadrant includes hydrants south of High Street and West of Main Street.

MAWSA flushes hydrants as part of regular maintenance of the system and water quality.

During flushing you may experience low or no water pressure, or temporary water discoloration.
Water discoloration does not affect the water quality. If you experience discolored water, run cold water until it is clear. Be sure to rinse faucet screens as well. Before running clothing or dishwashers, be sure the water is clear before using them. If laundry becomes stained due to discolored water, rewash immediately to minimize staining.

Along the same lines, it is recommended that water heaters are flushed per manufacturer’s instructions on a regular basis.
As a reminder, please drive safely around our crews and give added space for wet road conditions.
