We are excited for your visit...

2022 Hydrant Flushing

An automated call was issued on Friday afternoon (April 29) regarding the hydrant flushing that will take place the week of May 2 and the week of May 9. It is anticipated that flushing will occur between 9AM and 3PM on weekdays during the next two weeks.

Flushing is part of ongoing system maintenance. While the flushing of the system is in progress, numerous valves will be exercised and operated, and hydrants flowed to achieve the final objective of a cleaner, more efficient water distribution system. This also enables us to check each fire hydrant to ensure it is operating correctly and is available in a time of emergency.

The call reminded consumers that while the flushing program is in progress, and shortly thereafter, it will create murky and or rusty looking water conditions. We ask that they NOT BE ALARMED, it is not harmful, and should clear up after the water is run for a few minutes or so.

It is requested that consumers avoid washing clothes during the period of time that flushing is taking place in their section of town. For those that must do laundry while their section is being flushed, it is recommend that they do not use chlorine/bleach.

We realize our flushing program will cause some inconvenience for those who live in the area of flushing. This will only be temporary and will result in better quality drinking water and a more efficient distribution system.

We are working closely with local officials and police departments to keep traffic problems to a minimum and to observe all safety precautions.

Some flooding of streets may occur temporarily during the week. It is requested that drivers and pedestrians be mindful of this and our crews working in and around the streets during this process.

If a problem should occur during the program, they may be reported by calling 717-665-2737.

We thank everyone in advance for your patience and cooperation while we work to maintain our water system.
